Expo/Food Runner

Big Hickory Waterfront Grille is currently hiring a Food Expo as well as two Food Runners.  Our business has exploded and we need experienced help that can move fast and handle the energy of a fast paced environment!

FOOD EXPO 

Acts as a liaison between the kitchen cook staff and the food runners and wait staff, which ensures a steady workflow throughout the various departments of the restaurant. An expo “runs the board” during lunch and dinner. Keeping a watchful eye on ticket times, maintaining quality control, and monitoring food safety. This is a specialized position. An excellent sense of time management, organization, situational awareness, problem solving and unwavering calm are all attributes needed. Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required.  

FOOD RUNNER are also needed to deliver trays of food to our dine in guests. Has more interaction with the guests by ensuring that orders are delivered correctly, and accommodates guests requests as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the servers to the kitchen  
• Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority  Assist in the final preparation of dishes
• Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
• Deliver orders to maintain fast service
• Packages Carry Out orders to insure accuracy. Share in Tip out of carry out orders  
• Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning
• Transfer important information between the kitchen and servers (e.g. when a customer has a particular request)
• Support other tasks as needed  

Requirements

• Proven experience as food expeditor or food runner  
• Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
• Carry heavy trays (up to 30 lbs)
• Well-organized and ability to lead and direct people
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
• A customer-oriented approach
• Great physical endurance 

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time  Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
